Description: This
course will prepare students for the O’level examination
in May by developing the ability to use the language
effectively for purposes of practical communication.
Current topics will be discussed to prepare students
for the oral exam. Exercises for formation of compositions
and essay writing, formal and informal letters, reports,
adverts will be given. There will also be grammar lessons
on adjectives, nouns, prepositions, the present subjunctive
etc. |

Pronunciation, Accentuation and Orthography
Articles: nouns and adjectives
Vocabulary
Time and weather, meals and restaurants, all types of modern
travel, shops and services,
Communications (like post office, telephone, computer, books
and newspapers, etc.),
Money matters, body and health matters, entertainment (theatre,
concerts, cinema, radio, TV, etc.), sports and games, social
life, etc.
Personal pronouns, Relative pronouns.
Possessive and demonstrative adjectives and pronouns. Prepositions
Auxiliary verbs
Indicative tenses of regular verbs and common irregular verbs
Indicative tenses of radical-changing verbs
Idiomatic uses of verbs and verbs with prepositions
Imperative, including polite imperative.
Conditional tenses.
The present subjunctive
Verbs which do not stress a fact; in adverbial clauses of
time when future is implied;
Indefinite or negative adjective clauses.
